Z posledních let jsme k realizaci maxikaret vybrali známky Vánoční motiv (2012), Regionální motiv - turista (2012), Brána s pávem (2011) a Čtyřlístek (2010).

9th FIP MAXIMAPHILY World competition FOR
THE Best Maximum Card CREATED IN 2011
montreal – paris,  April 25, 2013

For the 2nd time, the 9th World Competition for the three Best Maximum Cards created in 2011' was posted on our Website www.maximaphily.info  and open for Voting to all our official Delegates. Also, for the 2nd time, the Voting for this Competition, was done electronically. The Voting period was from March 16, 2013 to April 15, 2013. The official Delegates had to send in by email their Voting Papers with their Choices to both the Chairman and the most experienced Bureau Member Mme Anny Boyard. If a Country Vote was sent only to me as Chairman, I automatically forwarded that Vote to Mme A. Boyard  to ensure the integrity and security of the Vote. Mme Anny Boyard has been  in charge of verifying the Vote Results and she did a very thorough verification by checking every FIP Country Vote received.
For this '9th World Competition for the three Best Maximum Cards created in 2011' we followed the new regulations, that is it will NOT be allowed to vote for your own country. This major Voting change was formally approved by our Delegates at the Jakarta Meeting of the Commission on June 22, 2012.
There were 60 countries taking part (an increase of one since the previous Competition). There were 50 Votes cast by Delegates representing 51 FIP Countries (an increase by six (6) Votes) and out of the 60 participating countries, 47 countries received a Vote.

The Results of the three (3) Best Maximum Cards created in 2011 are the following:

1st Prize: great britain  (75 points)
Atlantic puffin  (Fratercula arctica)

This Maximum Card was created by Ian Billings. The First Day cancellation of Marloes, Haverfordwest in Pembrokeshire (Habitat place) has a special mention ‘Birds of Britain, and a concordant illustration (triple). The stamp is part of the 4th set of Faststamps depicting Seabirds that can be found on Isles off Britain’s coasts. Atlantic Puffins are found in North Atlantic and Arctic Ocean. In Britain the largest colonies are found off NW Scotland on Staffa Island and the Outer Hebrides and in the west on Skomer Island off  Pembrokeshire Coast.

Habitat: Open sea, grassy cliff-tops and islands. Both the Stamp and the Card depict these grassy cliffs with the Thrift Plant with spikes of pink flowers. It resembles the Chive plants.

Description: The Puffin has a Stocky build, very large triangular bill which is bright red, blue and yellow in the summer. Black and white plumage; orange, webbed feet. Its distinctive bill has given it the nicknames of 'sea parrot' and 'bottle nose'. Although it looks a bit like a penguin or a parrot, it is actually related to the auk family - its close, larger relative are razorbills.

Size: Body:- 30cm; Wing length:147 - 170mm. Weight: Males, 345 - 488g. Females, 310 - 345g.

Feeding Habits: Puffins feed mostly on small fish such as herring and in particular sand-eel. Because of their specially adapted bill, puffins are able to go on quite long fishing trips, storing their previous catch in a neat row in their bill. This makes each trip much more productive. Puffins catch their prey by “flying” underwater, diving for around 20-40 seconds at a time, using their wings to swim powerfully down and their webbed feet to point them in the right direction.

Breeding: Puffins return to their breeding colonies in March and April. A Puffin colony sometimes has several thousand pairs. The birds usually pair for life. Puffins may dig a shallow burrow of 2 m long, in the soft turf on cliff tops, or use an old rabbit burrow. They return to the same burrow every year. A single egg is laid and both parents take turns to incubate it for 39 days. The newly hatched chick is covered in dark brown down and has a small black bill. Its parents share the task of feeding it, flying out to sea to catch beakfuls of sand eels. Once its adult feathers develop the young puffin will emerge at night (to avoid gulls), it will tumble down the cliff and will swim as far out to sea as possible. It then starts learning to fly and fish. The following year, the young puffin returns to the colony, although it does not breed until it is four or five years old.

2nd Prize: CANADA (63 points)
WINTER MAGDELEN MAIL by a ‘PONCHON’

This Maximum Card was created by George Constantourakis. The First Day Dorval QC Temporary Event cancellation (2011 Royal Philatelic Show) has a concordant illustration (triple).
This stamp - part of a se-tenant stamp issue for the 2011 Royal Philatelic Show in Dorval QC - depicts one of the most unusual ‘Methods of Mail Delivery’. Extreme weather in Canada, particularly in winter, created problems with navigation. In the winter of 1910, a snapped telegraphic cable severed communications between the people the Magdalen Islands QC and the Cape Breton NS mainland. Community leaders of the Magdalen Islands faced with isolation, used their ingenuity to overcome this problem. They rigged a PONCHON - a large wooden barrel - with a rudder and sail, marked with the inscription “WINTER MAGDELEN MAIL.” After testing the PONCHON to ensure it was waterproof, they piled in steel boxes filled with letters, including one explaining the situation and imploring the finder to mail the letters. It was launched on Feb. 2, 1910 and after a little more than week sailing the icy waters of the Gulf of St. Lawrence it reached land and it was found at Port Hastings, Nova Scotia by Murdoch McIssac—who posted the letters as requested. These se-tenent stamps honour Canada Post’s history and depict the role of mail delivery in the development of Canada.

3rd Prize: ITALY (60 points)
TRAJAN’S TRIUMPHAL ARCH, (Northwest side), Benevento

This Maximum Card was created by Cesare Rialdi for A.I.M. The First Day Benevento cancellation has a special mention 'Arco di Traiano', and a concordant illustration (triple). When the Via Appia was extended beyond Capua, the first section was to Beneventum, about 35 miles away. Here one finds an impressive Triumphal Arch erected across the Via Appia between 114 and 166 AD in honor of Trajan. The bas-reliefs tell the story of Trajan's achievements. This image is what the traveller from Rome would see as he approached the arch on the Via Appia. It is the Northwest side and glorifies what Trajan had accomplished for Rome.
Lower left Relief: Reliefs at the base of the arch both celebrate Trajan's return to Rome in 99 AD after a successful tour of Germania. Trajan is either at the Temple of Vespacian or the Curia Iulia. A figure holding a cornucopia represents the Roman people.
Lower Right Relief: Still recognizing Trajan's successful campaign in Germania, we see here the emperor being welcomed into the city by the Praefectus Urbis.
Center Right Relief: Trajan is shown with Portunus, the god of harbors. During his reign, among other civic ameliorations, the harbor at Ostia was improved with the addition of an inner harbor into which even largest grain vessels from Egypt could anchor. Three merchants, perhaps representing grain merchants, greet the Emperor. Behind one sees Apollo, Hercules and Jupiter Anxur.
Center Left Relief: Trajan is shown with the goddess Diana in the center and soldiers from the 5 legions. There is also a foreigner with a dog. Perhaps this is the god Silvanus, the god of the forests who had to be propitiated prior to clearing land for farms or housing. This panel recognizes Trajan's giving land to his veteran soldiers.
Upper Left Relief: Trajan, in the garb of a priest offering a sacrifice is on the Capitoline Hill while Jupiter offers him his thunderbolt. Looking on are Juno and Minerva among others.
Upper Right Relief: Two consuls of Rome receive Trajan. Perhaps it is Hadrian who stands in the center. He succeeded Trajan as emperor in 117 AD. The woman to the left with the woven crown represents Roma. In the background one sees an arch perhaps to the Campidolgio and to the right the Temple of Jupiter Custos.

Dvě výstavy a turista opět v akci

ale i špičkové fotografie z ateliérů tvůrců československých poštovních známek - J. Lieslera, F. Grosse, K. Lhotáka, B. Housy, J. Herčíka, V. Kovaříka, Z. Sklenáře, M. Ondráčka, L. Jirky, J. Švengsbíra a dalších.

Druhá výstava, OSTROPA 2013, česko-německá výstava poštovních známek s mezinárodní účastí, navazuje na předchozí stejnojmenné výstavy, jejichž historie sahá až do roku 1935.
